Rishab Pant tests positive for Delta Variant of Covid-19 in England

India wicket-keeper batsman Rishab Pant has tested positive for COVID-19 in the ongoing tour of England and will not be travelling with the team to Durham on Thursday.
Pant was among the players who had visited the Wembley stadium to watch the England vs Germany Euro match. He is currently in isolation in his acquaintance’s place.
The 23-member squad will travel without him, where the team will go in a bio-bubble ahead of the upcoming Test series with England.

"Yes, one of the players has tested positive although he is largely asymptomatic currently. He is in quarantine at an acquaintance's place and won't be travelling with the team to Durham on Thursday," said a BCCI source.

Players are being tested and will undergo additional testing during the camp in Durham. The first round of testing was completed on Saturday (July 10) and another round was completed on Wednesday (July 14). According to reports, the Indian player's positive result was confirmed after the first round.
It is understood that he has been afflicted by the Delta variant which has led to rising number of cases in England.
England and India will cross swords in a five-match Test series starting from August 4.
