Root rules out England white-ball captaincy, shifts focus to India series and Ashes

England test skipper Joe Root said he hopes to put off the controversial rest and rotation policy ahead of the India series and later in the Ashes so that they can compete for the WTC.
The rest and rotation policy was in a difficult situation earlier this year during the series against India and New Zealand.
“We are now at a time when rest and rotation are behind us. Hopefully if everyone is healthy, we have the best team to follow. It’s really exciting and I’m very excited. I’m really looking forward to it. ”

“There are 10 very difficult test matches against two great opponents, but it’s a great opportunity to play strong cricket. If everyone is healthy and available, build a good team of ourselves. You can, “he said.
Root also said he wants to fight India and Australia the best XI possible in the series. He also revealed that seeing England not play the World Test Championship (WTC) finals hurt him.
“In the next five test matches, I think we’re trying to play the strongest teams or make the strongest teams available in those games. That’s what you’re doing. I think it’s time to get ready. For this lead-in, especially for that ash yourself. To ensure that everyone peaks for it and these big games,” he said.
“Looking at the WTC Final, it’s not part of it, so you’ll want to be part of something very special like that. We’re now a bit ahead of the first timeout. I have the opportunity to get better. Hopefully I’m looking forward to choosing from a full team of players, “he added.
England will lock the horn against India in a five-game test series starting in August. After a five-game test series against India, England will lock the horn against Australia in Ashes later this year starting December 8.
