The Afghanistan Cricket Board released senior cricketer Mohammad Nabi of his duties as board director on Monday, so that he could focus on his impending international assignments.

Nabi has been replaced as a member of the ACB by Farid Mamundzay, Afghanistan's current ambassador to New Delhi.

''The decision to relieve senior player Mohammad Nabi from his duties as a Board member was taken considering Afghanistan's upcoming important and busy international calender where he will play a vital role as the senior-most all-rounder for the national team,'' said ACB in a statement.

It is understood that ACB decided to appoint Mamundzay as a board member as it will help strengthen its bilateral relations in India where the Afghans play their home matches.

Mr. Mamundzay has a Master's degree in International Accounting and Finance under his belt. He has also worked as a professor at Afghanistan's American University.
