Former General Secretary of Bangladesh Cricket Board Reza-e-Karim, has died. He breathed his last at a hospital in the capital this morning on Sunday (22 March) (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaiyeh rajeune). At the time of his death, he was 83 years old.

Karim was one of the pioneers of organised cricket’s return to post-liberation Bangladesh as the Secretary of the then BCCB’s First Division League and Tournament Committee in 1974-75. He was the Secretary of the BCCB when the first constitution of the Board was drafted in 1976-77. BCB extends heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.

Karim was suffering from various physical complications for many years. The two kidneys of his lost most of the ability. He was also once suffered from a brain hemorrhage. He has spent the last few years going to the hospital. Also he had respiratory disease. He was also suffering from cancer. He spent the last days of his life at his home in Monipuri para, by having medicine and doctors.

The Late Reza-e-Karim’s Namaz-e-Janaza will be held today after Zuhr prayer at Baitush Sarak Mosque, Tejgaon Monipuri Para. He will be buried at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Mirpur.
