Bangladesh Under-19 batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy is certainly satisfied that he could fulfill his batting role to perfection with a brilliant hundred against New Zealand in the ICC Under19 World Cup semi-final to help them earn a six wicket win over them and create history by qualifying for the final of ICC Under-19 World Cup for the first time at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom on Thursday.
Mahmudul Hasan struck a hundred to guide Bangladesh to 215-4 in 44.1 overs after bowlers set up the win with their controlled bowling restricted the Kiwis to 211-8 after electing to bowl first.
In reply, Bangladesh were reduced to 32-2 in the ninth over but Mahmudul struck 100 off 127 balls and put up two decent stands of 68 and 101 runs with Towhid Hridoy and Shahadat Hossain respectively to complete an easy win.

Mahmudul struck 13 fours for his fourth hundred in youth one-day internationals while Shahadat and Hridoy made 40 runs each.
My role in the team is to bat long and till the end and what is happening should hardly[ have any impact on me] and my job is to rotate the strike and happy that I could bat till the end,’’ said Mahmudul.
‘’When two wickets gone I tried to rotate the strike and it ended well,’’ he said adding that he learnt his lesson from getting out against New Zealand on 99 during their last tour where he also struck a century.
During the last tour I got out on 99 so I tried to play on singles and last time I made a mistake but nothing happened this time,’’ he said.
‘’I feel very good and thanks to Allah. All supported me that includes team mates along with support staff and everyone else,’’ he said.
Bangladesh will now face India in the final of the tournament at the same venue on Sunday.
