Bangladesh cricket is going through a phase of transition, but the team is carrying strong momentum after back-to-back series wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Litton Das and his men added to that confidence by winning the opening T20I against the Netherlands, and the Tigers now hope to seal the series before heading into the Asia Cup.

However, results are not the only priority. National team senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin said the ultimate goal is long-term progress.
“Yes, we know we have to perform well in the Asia Cup too, but the real target is constant improvement. Every day we want to get a little better, raise our standard, and keep working towards becoming a stronger team,” Salahuddin said.

Ahead of the busy schedule, Bangladesh players underwent a rare extended fitness camp. They trained on athletics tracks, with sessions including four laps of the 400-meter track to measure stamina.

The fitness program ran until August 15, followed by skill training. From August 20, the squad moved to the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium for an intensive preparation camp, which also featured power-hitting drills under specialist coach Julian Wood.
Reflecting on the build-up, Salahuddin expressed satisfaction with the preparations.
“This time we had more days, so we could focus on everything batting, bowling, fielding. Usually in international cricket we don’t get much free time to work on players’ skills. Since we got the opportunity, it will benefit us now and in the future as well. Team improvement is never-ending; it’s a continuous process, not something that stops with one series or one Asia Cup.”
