Several other boards, including Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, were reportedly considering following India’s lead in boycotting the AGM.
This is the first major international cricket gathering in Bangladesh since Bulbul took over as BCB president. A key agenda item for tomorrow’s meeting is finalizing the schedule for the 2025 Asia Cup.
While the AGM is officially hosted by the ACC, the BCB has been handling most of the logistics, as the event is taking place in Dhaka.
Earlier, Indian media reported that the BCCI had urged the ACC to shift the meeting out of Bangladesh and even threatened to withdraw from the tournament if their request wasn’t honored.
However, they have now softened their stance. Though BCCI’s top officials are not attending in person, they will join online, with Vice President Rajeev Shukla expected to participate virtually.
If all goes smoothly during the AGM, the 2025 Asia Cup is likely to be held in the UAE in the first two weeks of September. The hosting rights for the tournament still belong to India.
