The Caribbean-based T10 tournament kicks off today, with the final scheduled for July 23. Shakib is expected to join his new team immediately after completing his stint in the Global Super League (GSL), where he featured for Dubai Capitals.
Shakib played four matches in the GSL, helping his side to their only win in the competition. In the tournament opener against Central Districts, he produced a match-winning all-round performance—scoring an unbeaten 58 off 37 balls and claiming 4 wickets for just 13 runs.
However, his form dipped in the following games. He managed just 7 runs and went wicket less for 34 runs against Hobart Hurricanes.
Against Guyana Amazon Warriors, Shakib scored only 4 and conceded 21 runs without a wicket. In the final group game against Rangpur Riders, he bowled tightly for 1/16 but contributed just 3 runs with the bat.
Despite a mixed outing in the GSL, Shakib's leadership and experience will be crucial for Miami Blaze as they begin their campaign in the fast-paced Max Sixty T10 format.
