Rishad- Afridi dominate Islamabad to help Lahore reach PSL Final

Rishad Hossain and Shaheen Afridi celebrate a wicket

Rishad, who had to leave the tournament midway during the India-Pakistan political tensions and later missed matches due to Bangladesh’s UAE tour, made an instant impact upon his return. Despite being expensive in his first over (14 runs), he bounced back brilliantly.

The young spinner removed Salman Ali Agha in his second over and then struck twice in the third — dismissing Shadab Khan right after being hit for a six, and then accounting for Jimmy Neesham with the final ball of the over.
Neesham tried to go big again but ended up giving a return catch to Rishad. He didn’t get a fourth over but finished with 3 wickets, turning the game in Lahore’s favour.
Bangladesh star Shakib Al Hasan, however, endured another tough outing. Though economical in patches, he remained wicketless, conceding 27 runs in 3 overs.

Earlier, while batting in the final over, he was dismissed for another duck, mistiming a lofted shot off Tymal Mills straight into the hands of Mohammad Nawaz.

Lahore posted a formidable total after electing to bat first. Mohammad Naim starred with a 50 off 25 balls, while Kusal Perera anchored the innings with a fine 61 off 35. Useful cameos from Rajapaksa (22 off 13) and Asif Ali (15 off 7) helped Lahore reach over 200.
In reply, Islamabad’s chase never got going. Shaheen Afridi (3/3) and Salman Mirza (3/16) ripped through the top order, while Rishad’s triple blow ensured there was no recovery.
While Rishad's bowling proved decisive, he couldn't make a big mark with the bat. He hit a boundary off his first ball but was run out on the final delivery, ending with 5 runs. Still, his performance with the ball overshadowed the failure with the bat, firmly placing him among Lahore’s heroes of the night.
With this win, Lahore Qalandars storm into the PSL 2024 final, scheduled for 25 May, where they’ll be eyeing their third title.
