England Test captain Ben Stokes has undergone surgery to address issues with his left knee. The 32-year-old all-rounder faced challenges with his knee, preventing him from bowling in the last three Ashes Tests during the summer.

During the World Cup in India, he was limited to a batting role.

Having previously announced his decision to undergo surgery post the tournament, Stokes is now focused on recovering in preparation for England's upcoming five-match Test series in India scheduled for January.

He posted a picture on Instagram of himself on crutches outside London's Cromwell Hospital, with a caption that read: "In and out. Under the [knife emoji] done. Rehab starts now."

Last week, the all-rounder made himself unavailable for the 2024 Indian Premier League to manage his workload and fitness.

Stokes was Chennai Super Kings' most expensive signing for the 2023 IPL but played just twice due to injury.
