Umar Gul appointed Pakistan bowling coach

Former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has been appointed as the bowling coach for the Afghanistan T20I series, PCB chair Najam Sethi announced on Twitter on Tuesday.
 
Abdul Rehman, the veteran domestic coach, has been named interim head coach of the Pakistan men's team. Mohammad Yousuf and Abdul Majeed will retain their positions as batting coach and fielding coach, respectively.
 
Shadab Khan will lead Pakistan’s new-look Twenty20 team against Afghanistan after selectors on Monday rested five senior players, including all-format captain Babar Azam, as part of its workload management.
 
Gul was Afghanistan's bowling coach in the recent ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2022. As an active player between 2007 and 2016, he took 85 wickets at an average of 16.97 in 60 T20Is.
 
The T20Is series will commence on March 24 with the first match scheduled to be played in Sharjah.
