On Monday morning, Shakib Al Hasan, the team's star all-rounder, joined the team's practice session shortly after arriving home from the United States. The southpaw arrived in Dhaka at 7:30 am and hurried to the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at around 2:00 pm for team practice.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon recently said in an interview that the relationship between Shakib and Tamim Iqbal is unhealthy.
Due to recent controversies of last few days, Shakib's participation in practice is a matter of curiosity in the country's cricket.
From the moment Shakib entered the field, his every step was watched by media cameras. What was he doing, whom he was talking to, everything was captured.
In the recently finished Bangladesh Premier League, Shakib was in excellent form with the bat and the ball. Fortune Barisal, his team, was also in excellent shape. They were eliminated from the eliminator, though, and did not participate in the championship game.
After completing his BPL assignment, Shakib went on to play for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He was supposed to play for Peshawar until February 26th. Shakib, however, he left for the United States on February 20 after only one match due to pressing family matters.
To play in the PSL, Shakib took a leave of absence from national team activities until February 26.
After seven years break, the England cricket team has returned to Bangladesh to play three ODIs and two T20Is.
The first One-Day International will be played in Mirpur on March 1 and the second game will be held there on March 3. On March 6, the third and final ODI will take place at Chittagong's Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
