Bangladesh off-spinner Nayeem Hasan has been ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka which is slated to be played at the SBNCS, Mirpur on 23 May.

Nayeem suffered a finger injury while fielding during the visitors' second innings on Wednesday, the fourth day of the Chattogram Test that ended in a draw.

National Team physio Bayzidul Islam said: “Nayeem had a contusion of the right middle finger while batting and fielding in the first Test. An X-Ray after the match confirmed an oblique fracture on the tip of the middle finger. He will miss the second Test.

“We will take specialist opinion before planning his rehab and recovery,” he added.

Earlier, Bangladesh suffered injury setbacks in the just-concluded Test as injury to pacer Shoriful Islam sidelined him from the Chattogram Test.
