After their respective victory Monday in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2021-22, Legends of Rupganj, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, and Gazi Group Cricketers are third, fourth, and fifth in the battle to finish in the top six Super League slots.
In Mirpur, Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club defeated Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by 29 runs (Duckworth-Lewis method), Mohammedan beat Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited by five wickets, and Gazi edged Brothers Union by six runs.
Nazmul Islam Apu, left-arm spinner, continued his unbeaten run in the country's elite 50-over championship, this time bowling Sheikh Jamal out for 185 with two overs to spare.
The Mohammedan bowling attack was led by Nazmul, who took three wickets for nine runs in six overs.
Nazmul was strongly assisted by fellow spinner and skipper Shuvagata Hom, as well as pacers Yeasin Arafat and Hasan Mahmud, who each took two wickets.
Sheikh Jamal were reduced to 61/7 after Mohammedan's decision to field first, but a 74-run eighth-wicket stand between Taibur Rahman (53 not out) and Sanjamul Islam (43) gave them some hope.
In response, the Motijheel-based side accomplished their target with 28 deliveries to spare due to fiftys from opener Rony Talukdar (57) and Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez (50).
