Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal has said star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and the whole squad are keen to overcome the challenges that await them in the bilateral three-match ODI series against hosts South Africa, which begins tomorrow [Friday] in Centurion.
And, despite the episodes surrounding his involvement before to the season, Tamim believes Shakib will appear in all games.
"I didn't receive any message in which I was told that Shakib should be rested for one or two matches. He's here to play with the team and is ready for all the games," Tamim told in pre-match press conference.
"I discussed normal cricket-related matters with him [Shakib]. Shakib is waiting for tomorrow's match and wants to perform. Just as I want to perform tomorrow, so do the rest of the team members,"
Tamim is ready to take the challenge as in 20 years, Bangladesh have never get a chance to win at Proteas’ home ground.
"I wouldn't call this series difficult but of course it will be challenging, as I've said before. We have to be ready for that challenge. With the exception of one or two in this team, we all have the experience of playing 40-50 or more ODIs. So everyone is well aware of their responsibilities” he added.
