Fortune Barishal clinch a four-wicket win against Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) opener which commenced at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.
Chasing 126 runs, Chattogram reached the target with four wickets and 8 balls to spare. Shykat Ali smashed 39 off 35 hitting one four and two sixes.
Chttogram's captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz took a four-for and finished with figures of four in four overs conceding 16 runs.
Miraz removed Najmul Hossain Shanto in his first over and Shakib al Hasan after couple of overs, he played a knock of 13 off 16 before getting castled by Miraz.
Miraz took two more wickets in his last over by picking up the wickets of Shykat and Irfan Sukkur (16).
Barishal won the toss and invited Chattogram to bat first, who lost four wickets before posting 50 runs on the board.
The opener Kenar Lewis (6) started with a huge six but returned on the third ball with a catch to Shanto off Nayeem Hasan.
Chattogram lost another opener when Will Jacks was trapped into an LBW by Jake Lintott. He departed on 16 off 20. Then Shamim Hossain and Naeem Islam played brief innings of 14 and 15 runs respectively.
Benny Howell's late cameo of 41 off 20 with 3 fours and 2 sixes aided Chattogram to score 125 and set the target of 126 in 20 overs.
Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the bowling for Barishal as he took three wickets in his four overs. Nayeem Hasan picked a couple of wickets while Shakib took a wicket.
