Bangladesh T20 captain Mahmudullah Riyad looking forward to the batters of the national side for the 2022 T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia.

During the trophy unveiling programme of the BCB Academy Cup 2021-22, which was held today at the Sher e Bangla National Stadium. Mahmudullah said Bangladesh need to improve their batting unit as Australia’s bouncy wicket will provide advantage to the batters. However, he expressed satisfaction with the bowling unit.

“Depends on what kind of T20 cricket we are playing. There is still a long way to go. I personally think the conditions in Australia are very good. Equal bounce and good pace. Now it's up to us, how we can cope with that,” said Mahmdullah.

“We need to make the batting unit better. The bowling unit I think is consistently doing well. There are some small things that we can achieve if we consistently improve in every series,” he said.

Bangladesh batters have not been able to perform as per expectations in T20 formats. However, Mahmudullah admitted the T20 format is a difficult one.

“I think T20 is a difficult format. The required rate is much higher all the time. There is pressure, there is hope. The pressure will always be there. Sometimes we achieve it and sometimes we can’t. If we can show consistency then we can breed confidence,” he added.
