Bangladesh cricket team newly appointed team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon wants to add prominent domestic cricket coach Mohammad Salahuddin to the Bangladesh coaching setup.

Sujon, who joined the practice session with seven cricketers for the upcoming Pakistan series at the academy ground of Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur told the media that he is eager to add Salahuddin to the team setup.

“Of course, I want him and I’m trying to do that. Although it’s depending on Salahuddin whether he will come. We want to add him to the team setup,” said Sujon.

Salahuddin played the role of assistant coach and fielding coach during his time with the Bangladesh team in 2005 to 2010 but Mahmud didn't disclose which role the BCB is considering him for.

Sujon feels the batsmen were not confident enough and said they even failed to pretend to be confident against the other teams.

"Mentality is really important, but if you perform otherwise you'll be good otherwise you must learn. We always emphasize in cricket that pretending is very important. Sometimes you have to pretend to be confident and that's how you want to bat," he said.

"A single player cannot score every day, but confidence and mental strength are important. If I attempt to change my batting style in every match, it becomes tough. Why do I have to bat differently under duress? aYou have your own style and method of scoring runs," he added.

When he was asked about appointing a psychologist for the team, the former captain further said “It’s not easy to appoint a psychologist within a short time."
