Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will join the World cup squad by traveling on road after completing the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The development was confirmed by Bangladesh Cricket Board selector Habibul Bashar on Friday.

"As far as I know, Shakib will join the team by travelling by road. He will not take the risk of air flight. Since it will be a bubble to bubble transfer, so there will be no quarantine issue,” said Bashar.

The distance between Dubai and Oman is approximately 415 kilometers. Shakib has decided not to fly mainly to avoid the bio-bubble restriction.

Bangladesh will start their T20 World Cup Qualifiers campaign against Scotland. The match will be played at the Oman Cricket Academy ground in Muscat on October 17.

The Tigers will face Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 19 and 21 respectively.
