Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan remarked that Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) should be staged at a specific time of the year.
BCB hosted the Bangabandhu T20 Cup as they were unable to arrange BPL amid the corona pandemic last year. The tournament consisted of three teams and the tournament was organized only with local cricketers
The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) was also organized in T20 format due to the restrictions of coronavirus.
“It will be really wonderful if BPL is arranged at a specific time. As there was no BPL last season, the Bangabandhu T20 Cup was organized. The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) was also played in a T20 format,” Shakib said.
“I believe the necessity has been met. However, a defined timetable for the BPL would have been better. Perhaps we will discover more cricketers, and there will be more competitive cricket and foreign players come to play,” he said.
BCB wanted to schedule the next edition of BPL in January next year. Shakib believes that BPL will be good for the country's cricket and cricketers if its hosted-on time.
“BCB is also keen to organize BPL. This time, as far as I know, there is a slot available. They are expected to organize within that time. So, if that occurs, it would be great to Bangladesh cricket and cricketers,” he added.
