Bangladesh made history at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday as Mahmudullah Riyad's team won the series by defeating the powerhouse Australia in the third T20 of the five-match series by 10 runs.
Before this series, Bangladesh did not have the taste of winning any T20i match against Australia. This time the victory came in three consecutive matches, thanks to the cutter master Mustafizur Rahman.
Mustafizur concluded an extraordinary effort by giving just one run in the penultimate over of the third T20, flummoxing the visitors with his fast off-cutters and finishing with 4-0-9-0.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon sees the penultimate over made by Mustafiz as the turning point of the match. The BCB president claimed that everyone believed in Mustafiz that he could do anything.
“I would say that Mustafiz's over was the turning point of the match. And we believed that only Mustafiz could do something in that over. That's what he did,” Papon told the media after the match.
Bangladesh’s next mission is to finish the series 5-0.
