Bangladesh prime wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has withdrawn from the next T20 International series against Zimbabwe, which is set to take place next month. However, he will be available for Tests and One-Day Internationals. Minhajul Abedin, Bangladesh's chief selector, confirmed the matter on Monday to cricket based website Cricbuzz.

"Mushfiqur called me today and wanted to opt out from the T20 series against Zimbabwe,'' Minhajul said.

Adding that the bio-bubble fatigue has been tough on the players, and a reason for him to opt out and remain fresh for the upcoming games against Australia and New Zealand. "We are yet to take a decision in this regard but we must respect their decisions in such cases."

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had said earlier that on their next trip of Zimbabwe, they will play one less Test than planned in order to accommodate an extra T20I. Bangladesh was set to play two Tests, three One-Day Internationals, and two Twenty-20 Internationals.

On July 7, the series will begin. The visitors will play a two-day practice game on July 3 and 4 before the first Test, but this is contingent on how many days the tourists will have to stay in quarantine. The two-day practice game is unlikely to be played if they are obliged to undertake a five- to seven-day quarantine after arriving in Zimbabwe on June 29.
