7 players and 2 stuff members test positive for Covid-19 in DPL

Dhaka Premier League (DPL) has suffered another blow as seven cricketers and a couple of stuff members have tested positive for Covid-19. A source in the medical department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the matter to Cricfrenzy on Thursday (May 27th).


About 269 cricketers from 12 clubs had undergone corona test. The medical board has not yet revealed which club and the seven cricketers were affected by the virus.

These 7 cricketers and 2 officials will be tested for corona in the second phase and their samples will be sent to the lab by today.


"Yes, we tested 269 cricketers. Out of which 7 cricketers and 2 officials tested positive. But we will test them again and that could happen today. Only then will we be sure but so far they have come positive," the BCB's medical department told Cricfrenzy.


The DPL was postponed on March last year due to corona outbreak. However, it was scheduled to resume from May 31.


Excluding the previous round, the rest of the tournament will be held in T20 format. The matches of this year's DPL are scheduled to be held at three venues Sher-e-Bangla International Cricket Stadium, BKSP 3 and 4 till June 14.
