Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan is hoping Shakib al Hasan to return to form in the ongoing series against the Sri Lanka, he told the media on Tuesday [May 25].

Shakib has been struggling with the bat against the Sri Lanka as he managed to score 15, 0 in the two ODIs. However, he shined with the ball as the all-rounder bagged wickets in two matches.

“I am 100% confident that he will return to form. When he is with the team, the team performs better. So I think he will come back well in this series,” said Akram.

During the New Zealand tour, Shakib was on leave to be with his wife. After that he missed the Test series against Sri Lanka in order to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Shakib got to play in the first three matches in IPL for KKR. After the suspension of IPL, Shakib had to return to the country and stay quarantined for 12 days of quarantine. That's why he didn't get much chance to practice. However, Akram believes that Shakib can do better if he gives a little time.

“He went to IPL, but didn’t get enough opportunities there. Although, he played some matches, he did not get a chance to bat. He returned and was in quarantine. I think he can improve the performance after some time,” Akram added.
