Bangladesh's cricket team has struggled under current head coach Russell Domingo, and the two-match series against Sri Lanka may be his final task. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is eager to make a decision on his fate as soon as possible.

Domingo wasn't projected to take the job at all, but he was the only choice who could come to Bangladesh after Steve Rhodes was fired following a disappointing 2019 World Cup. Domingo, on the other hand, has yet to find a solution to Bangladesh's problems, especially in Tests and in foreign conditions.

The board of directors is evidently dissatisfied with the team's success under his leadership. Both Chandika Hathurusingha and Steve Rhodes had a shaky start, but later redeemed themselves and achieved some success. Domingo's situation is different, which is why his fate hangs in the balance for the next two matches, an away Test series against Sri Lanka and a home ODI series against the same opponents.

Akram Khan, the chairman of BCB's cricket operations department admitted that to the media.

"Of course we are not satisfied with his performance. We have two series ahead. We will sit down and assess the performance after the series are over. We will evaluate the performances of other coaching staff as well," said Akram

Former South African coach Domingo got off to the worst possible start as a coach when Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan in the only Test in Chattogram. Bangladesh has only won one Test match since then and has lost all of the Test Championship matches. Bangladesh hasn't yet delivered a memorable performance under Domingo, apart from a T20I victory over India.

The Mominul Haque-led side will play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka that is scheduled to begin on April 21. Sri Lanka will then tour Bangladesh in mid-May to play a three-match ODI series.
