South African cricketers are set to miss the opening matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 due to their participation in the ODI series against Pakistan.
South Africa paceman Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will be unavailable for the Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, Quinton de Kock will be unavailable for the Mumbai Indians. Lungi Ngidi will be missed by Chennai, and Punjab Kings will miss David Miller.

The players will be involved in the ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan which begins on April 2. According to InsideSport, these players might skip one or two games once they arrive in India due to quarantine requirements.

“Ngidi will join the team only after April 5. Ngidi will have to follow the same guidelines as others and will be put in quarantine once he arrives. Therefore he will not be available for selection for the opening game,” CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan told InsideSport.

South Africa and Pakistan will contest three One-Day Internationals between April 2-7, which will be followed by four Twenty20 Internationals starting from April 10-16.
