Bangladesh Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan came to a live session with Cricfrenzy on Saturday and praised Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon and Khaled Mahmud Sujon, who played an important role in bringing cricketers from the grassroots level of the country, for their contribution in Bangladesh cricket.

Papon has been the President of (BCB) since 2012 as he has contributed to most of the recent improvements in the country's cricket. Besides, Khaled Mahmud contributed a lot to form the 2020 Under-19 World Cup-winning team. Tiger all-rounder thinks that no one else involved in country’s development of cricket other than these two individual.

“There are some good under-19 cricketers and Sujan Bhai is working with them. I think I can give credit to BCB in this place. Apart from Papon Bhai and Sujan Bhai, I can't give credit any other person. I think no one is thinking in that level about the development of cricket” said Shakib to Cricfrenzy Live.

The BCB president is often criticized for the poor performance of the Bangladesh team. Shakib claimed that no one thinks about cricket in the country more than Papon. The under-19 team also get benefits from Sujan's plan. Although there are many former cricketers on the board, Shakib is not sure about their role in the development of cricket.

“We always blame Papon Bhai. I think no other board member thinks more than Papon Bhai about cricket. Sujan Bhai is doing well and we can see that the team’s result. We have a lot of former cricketers on the cricket board, but I don't know if they have any involvement”

However, Shakib also criticised the BCB's long-term planning, questioning the role of the High-Performance unit, and suggested that some of the BCB directors who have played for Bangladesh in the past haven't done much to progress the game.

"Not having back-up players is really disappointing. I don't know how many players have come from the High-Performance squad. We have a number of people in the cricket board who have played for Bangladesh, but apart from Sujon bhai, they are not too involved” he added.
