Liton Kumar Das, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s half centuries led the Najmul XI won the first practice match by 9 wickets against Tamim XI in New Zealand on Tuesday as Miraz said that this preparation match will work as a fuel of confidence in the Bangladesh team to do well in the series.
New Zealand's wickets are usually pace dependent. However, the spinners have been seen dominating the latest Australia-New Zealand series. Miraz also thinks that it is possible to have success in New Zealand by bowling according to certain things with spin.
“Vettori [Daniel Vettori] told me variation is very important here. It is especially important to mix the line length. I think by setting the fielding properly and then bowl according to the line length and variation, the run can be restrict even if the wicket cannot be taken. I'm trying to figure out how to give less runs” said Miraz after the match.
After 14 days of quarantine, it was important to know their condition. So at the end of the preparation match, half-centurion Miraz satisfied with preparation.
“Alhamdulillah we are very well prepared. We practiced for the last 7-8 days. We also practiced there for about a week after quarantine. After coming here and practicing for a week, we played a match today. Everyone is feeling very good and I saw everyone playing the match with great enthusiasm. The bowlers are bowling in very good length. The batsmen are batting with great confidence. So I think this practice match will give us confidence.”
