Women cricketers set to take vaccine on Monday

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has arranged corona vaccines for the cricketers in the squad ahead of the Bangladesh tour of New Zealand. Almost all the cricketers in the team including Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah have already been vaccinated. Along with them, the members of the Women’s team will undergo the vaccination program on Monday.

After Tamim and Mushfiqur, the cricketers of the women's team will be vaccinated. Jahanara Islam-Salma Khatun will take corona antidote at Kurmitola General Hospital on February 22. The hospital's director, Brigadier General Jamil Ahmed, confirmed it on February 20. "Our national women's cricket team will get vaccinated day after tomorrow [Monday]".


Today [Saturday], 8 cricketers of the national team took an antidote. They are Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Afif Hossain Dhrub, Shoriful Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Hasan Mahmud and Mohammad Mithun. The director of the hospital said that all of them are healthy after receiving the vaccine.


"Eight more cricketers from the national team have been vaccinated here today. They are all healthy and all left the hospital after completing their observation period. Among them were Saifuddin, Mustafiz, Rubel, Afif, Shoriful, Shanto, Al Amin and Mithun. They have taken the vaccine, along with the staff of the cricket board.”

BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus and several others took corona antidote. In addition the coaching staff, head coach Russell Domingo and bowling coach Ottis Gibson also took the vaccine.

Although the foreign coaches do not have Bangladesh national identity card, they have been given this vaccine through a special arrangement with the government.
