Bangladesh former ODI skipper Mashrafee bin Mortaza joined Gemcon Khulna in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup, officials said on Sunday.
Mashrafee is making a return to competitive cricket after a gap of eight months.
‘’Mashrafee got picked by Gemcon Khulna through a lottery held at BCB office today,’’ Khulna officials confirmed media through WhatsApp message on Sunday.
Four out of five teams participating in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup have expressed their interest to rope in Mashrafee following his availability after recovering from injury.
BCB was forced to put him into the lottery after several teams showed interest in him that began with Fortune Barishal as they were the first team to show interest in him.
Later Gemcon Khulna, Minister Rajshahi and Beximco Dhaka also expressed their interest while table-toppers Gazi Group Chattogram were the only side that had refrained to join the race.
