Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has revealed that he wants to retire from international cricket with the pace of his contemporaries Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Shakib said that he felt a healthy rivalry between them but that is good and needed for the betterment of the team’s cause.

“There’s a healthy rivalry and that’s good for the team. You need to have those rivalries for the betterment of the team. So if someone is scoring a 100 you need to score a 120. That’s the rivalry we have,” Shakib Al Hasan was quoted in Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

Shakib, who is currently staying in the USA with his family, reminisced how the trio of Shakib, Tamim and Mushfiq entered the international scene together, stating that the next ICC World Cup in 2023 would be crucial for the trio.

“I think the best time will be when we three will retire together; sit back, relax and talk about what we have done,” the all-rounder said.

“I think we have been playing together from Under-15. Since then we are together till now and hopefully we will be alike for a few more years ahead. And then, we can sit back and talk about what we have done for Bangladesh cricket,” he said in the over 24-minute interview.

“But I think we can look forward to it now and think about the 2023 World Cup which will be very important for Bangladesh cricket and for us all. So time for us to look forward, at least for now and after a few years we can look back and think about what we have done,” he added.
