Virat Kohli has been fined 50 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Royal Challengers Bangalore's match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 21.

Kohli's penalty stems from his reaction after being dismissed during RCB's chase. The former RCB captain was given out on a caught and bowled by Harshit Rana from a full toss, a delivery Kohli believed should have been called a no-ball for being above waist height. Kohli expressed his displeasure to the on-field umpires, leading to the code of conduct violation.

The third umpire used ball-tracking technology to determine that the ball would have dipped below waist level by the time it reached the stumps, taking into account Kohli's batting stance and height. Despite Kohli's protests, the dismissal was upheld, prompting his visible frustration.

As a result of his outburst, Kohli received a fine, reflecting the IPL's commitment to maintaining discipline and respect for officials' decisions.

According to rule 41.7 of ICC regulations, any delivery, which passes or would have passed, without pitching, above waist height of the striker standing upright at the popping crease, is to be deemed to be unfair, whether or not it is likely to inflict physical injury on the striker. If the bowler bowls such a delivery the umpire shall immediately call and signal No ball.

The third umpire thus, upheld the onfield decision, much to the annoyance of Kohli. While on his way out, the RCB opener was expressing his angst to the umpire.
