Soumya-Naim named in Bangladesh Emerging Asia Cup squad

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announces a 15-member squad on Monday for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

The Women's Emerging Team Asia Cup is underway in Hong Kong. Bangladesh women's team has already confirmed the semi-finals. After the women's Asia Cup, the men team will compete in the Asia Cup next month, July 14th.

Eight cricketers from the under-19 World Cup winning team in 2020 have been given a chance in the emerging team. Besides, there are senior cricketers like Soumya Sarkar and Naim Sheikh in this team.

Eight teams will compete in two groups. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are sending their 'A' teams, while the remaining three teams will play with their national teams. Group 'A' has Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Oman, while Group 'B' has Pakistan, India, UAE and Nepal.

The Bangladesh team will travel to Sri Lanka on July 12 to participate in the tournament.

The teams will compete in the tournament after a one-day practice on July 13. The tournament will be inaugurated with a match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on the first day.

Bangladesh's second match against Oman on July 16 after a daybreak. Their last group match is against Afghanistan on July 18.

The top two teams from the two groups will play the semi-finals on July 21. The final will be on July 23.
