Bangladesh Women’s team coach AKM Mahmud Emon was disappointed and lashed out seeing the condition of the wicket at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

In the ongoing Asia Cup, Bangladesh were thrashed by Pakistan by nine wickets after being skittled for 70 runs. Both team captains complained that such wickets are unsuitable for T20s.

The coach stated that he is familiar with the local fields because the domestic cricket games and camp are held all year. It was the first time he had seen such a wicket, stating, 'I have never seen a wicket like this in all my time working with women's cricket,'

"To be honest, I don't want any advantage as the host nation. But a sporting wicket is required. I have seen everywhere, wherever women's cricket is being played, they try to give sporting wickets,” said Emon.

The Tigresses were boosted with confidence following their qualification in the T20 World Cup followed by unbeaten triumph. The coach went on to say that such a defeat is enough to blow up a team mentality and preparation for a big tournament like the World Cup.

“As it is my own district. I have never seen a wicket like this even in local cricket. This kind of wicket is enough to down our morale and preparation for the FTP tour and the World Cup in South Africa,” he said.

Bangladesh team also informed the host Asian Cricket Council (ACC) authorities of their objections about the wicket.

“Yesterday our manager and umpires submitted a report regarding it. We have also spoken to the authorities about the wicket. They also assured us about the matter,” he added.
