Bangladesh suffers batting collapse, trail by 107 at stumps

Bangladesh have scored 34 for four wickets at stumps on Day 4, still trail by 107 runs during the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Thursday.

Bangladesh suffer yet another batting collapse and were reduced to 23-4, they lost four batters in 13 overs of the final session of the day.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das were unbeaten on the crease with 14 and 1 respectively at the close of the day's play.

Tamim Iqbal bagged his first pair when he was caught at slip in the sixth over, skipper Mominul Haque was dismissed for duck when he edged off Kasun Rajitha to wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.

The visitors were all out for 506 runs, with Shakib Al Hasan claiming his 19th Test five-for and pacer Ebadot Hossain finishing 4-148.

Resuming on 282/5, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal helped the Lankans take their first innings total past Bangladesh’s tally of 365.

The overnight batters added 199 runs for the sixth wicket stand. Mathews were unbeaten on 145 and Chandimal scored 124 runs before getting dismissed by Ebadot Hossain.

Mathews was given out caught behind off Khaled Ahmed on 94 but survived on review.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 365 in their first innings with the centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim (175) and Liton Das (141).
