Sri Lanka have scored 258 for 4 wickets at stumps on Day 1 against Bangladesh in the first Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Sunday.

Angelo Mathews smashed his 11th Test century as Sri Lanka advanced to a huge total. Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal were unbeaten on 114 and 34 runs respectively at the close of the day.

Mathews scored 114 facing 213 balls which featured 14 boundaries and a six and Chandimal was undefeated on 34 off 77.

Earlier, Nayeem Hasan made an early breakthrough by returning Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne in his very first over of the session. Then he also got rid of Oshada Fernando (36).

Karunaratne trapped leg before wicket during eight over after scoring nine runs. Fernando scored 36 off 76 balls before being caught by wicketkeeper Liton Das during 22nd over.

Then, half-centuries from Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews helped the Lankans to bounce back, both piled up a partnership of 92 runs.

Kusal Mendis fell to Taijul Islam after completing his half-century while all-rounder Shakib al Hasan got rid of Dhananjaya de Silva (6) with an inside edge onto the pad before flying to first slip to Mahmudul Hasan Joy.
