Chittagong Challengers rope in Nasum for 2021 edition

Nasum Ahmed is set to play for Chittagong Challengers in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Chittagong Challengers owner KM Rifatuzzaman has confirmed to the media on Thursday.

According to the rules of this year's BPL, the franchises will be able to recruit one local player from any category as a direct signing prior to the Player Draft.

In a statement, Rifatuzzaman said, "Last time, Chittagong Challengers picked Nasum Ahmed in the team as a surprise package. He came, performed and succeeded, the rest of the story is like this,”

“He was called up to the national team after an outstanding performance in BPL. We are boasting our confidence in this left-arm spinner, who is essential in the T20 edition. We have signed Nasum for the new event,” he added.

The six-team-based marquee event will begin on January 21. The final of the tournament is scheduled on 18 February. The Player Draft of BPL 2022 will be held on 27 December.

Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Cumilla respectively will take part in the 34-match-long tournament which will be staged in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.

The tournament will be held in a double round-robin format followed by three playoffs and a final and the winning team will take home Tk one crore while the runners-up will win a prize money of Tk 50 lakh.
