KL Rahul named vice-captain of Test team for SA series

India named KL Rahul as the vice-captain for the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa, which is set to begin from December 26.

KL Rahul replaced Rohit Sharma as vice-captain, who was ruled out of the Test series owing to a hamstring injury.

“Team India Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session here in Mumbai yesterday," the BCCI stated in an official release.

“He has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa. Priyank Panchal will replace Rohit Sharma in the Test squad," it added.

The first Test of the series will start on Boxing Day in Centurion. It will be followed by the second Test in Johannesburg from January 3 and the third and final Test in Cape Town from January 11.
