Bangladesh's Test captain Mominul Haque stated that the wickets and conditions should never be used as an excuse. He also claimed that he is prepared to perform well on any wicket by showing professionalism.

Bangladesh had defeated Australia and New Zealand at home using spin-friendly wickets, but Pakistan is a team that are excellent at playing spin and familiar with subcontinental conditions.

However, the skipper prefers a flat wicket in the second and final Test of the series in Mirpur.

“It is never desirable to use wickets and conditions as an excuse. I would never agree with that either. As a professional cricketer, you must be prepared to perform at any conditions,” said Mominul during the press conference on Friday.

"You all know that subcontinent teams play spin very well. I feel that against teams from the subcontinent, it's better not to play on spinning wickets. Other teams all do the same too. I feel that flat wicket would be better,"

Mominul will be looking forward to the ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan to lift the team performance. Shakib is set to return for the second Test after sitting out the Pakistan T20Is and the first Test through a hamstring injury.

"Things get easier when Shakib Bhai plays. He practiced the last few days and things look good. With him returning, we're thinking of four bowlers and seven batters," he added.

Bangladesh will play the second Test against Pakistan at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and the Tigers will be eager to bounce back from the defeat in the first Test at Chattogram with the visitors 1-0 up in the two-Test series.
