Taijul Islam, Bangladesh spinner, was unstoppable against Pakistan today [Sunday], bowling the visitors out for a seven-wicket haul in only two sessions to drag Bangladesh back into the first Test at Chattogram.

Taijul handled the main spin department’s responsibility sans Ace Shakib Al Hasan very well as he said at the end of the third day's play, he had to take the duty of picking up the wicket along with economical bowling in Shakib’s absence.

'Since Shakib bhai is not available, so I had to play the role of Shakib Bhai. There is also a pressure of run check, there is also a pressure of taking wickets. This is the role I have to play. You have to take wickets and check runs at the same time,” Taijul said after the 3rd day’s play.

Pakistan were 145 for no loss heading into Day three, but Taijul struck twice off back-to-back deliveries to dismiss Abdullah Shafique and Azhar Ali in the first over of the day.

He never let up on the Pakistan batsmen, bowling 44.4 overs and scooping up seven wickets on a field that was far from ideal for spinners. The left-arm orthodox credited spin bowling coach Shohel Islam, who helped him to return in his old action, which led him to today’s success.

"It's true that I got my success due to my old action. I tried to see if changes were possible but it's not like I wouldn't be able to change or that it would be a big problem if I did change action. I got big help from Shohel bhai and when I wanted to return to my old action, I could do it quickly because Shohel bhai is very aware of my action," Taijul told the media.

Bangladesh however lost four wickets early in their second innings today.

"It's not disappointing so we're not being disappointed by it. We had lost four wickets in the first innings too but we were able to comeback. We're hoping we can do the same in the second innings," Taijul added.
