Hetmyer, Russell, Lewis unavailable as Windies announce squads for Pakistan tour

West Indies announced squads for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Pakistan with Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Evin Lewis and Lendl Simmons unavailable for the tour.

Cricket West Indies stated the players pulled out citing ‘personal reasons, “Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell and Lendl Simmons are unavailable due to personal reasons,”

The selectors also omitted all-rounder Fabian Allen and paceman Obed McCoy due to injury. While experienced all-rounder Jason Holder has been rested from both sides.

The panel named a number of uncapped players in both formats. For the ODIs, the newcomers are batters Justin Greaves, Shamarh Brooks, left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie and fast bowling allrounder Odean Smith.

Smith and Motie are also selected in the T20I squad for the first time, along with left-arm fast bowling allrounder Dominic Drakes.

West Indies play three T20s and three one-day internationals against Pakistan starting on December 13 in what will be the first visit by a foreign country since England and New Zealand pulled out of scheduled tours this year for security reasons.
