Bangladesh have scored 253 runs losing four wickets from 85 overs at stumps on day one against Pakistan during their first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

Experienced duo Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das hit unbeaten 204-run partnership for the fifth wicket stand, the highest fifth-wicket partnership for the side which propel Bangladesh to surmount the early setback.

Liton has hit his maiden Test century and redeemed himself from the recently concluded T20 World Cup failure on the opening day.

While Mushfiq is just 18 away from his eighth Test match three-figure score. The last two times he reached that mark, he had gone on to score double-hundreds.

Liton smashed 113 runs off 225 balls featured 11 boundaries and a six while Mushfiq hit 82 off 190 aided by 10 boundaries.

Opting to bat first Bangladesh made a shaky start as both the openers departed early facing the strong pace-bowling side of Pakistan. The host lost four batters in the first session of the day.

The top-orders Shadman Islam, Saif Hassan and Najmul Hossain Shanto all were dismissed on despicable numeral 14 individually.

Test Skipper Mominul Haque was also removed early leaving the side on 47-3, by spinner Sajid Khan with an edge to wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistan bowlers remained wicketless in two sessions though dominated the morning session. Pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each for the visitors.

Pakistan handed batsman Abdullah Shafique a Test debut while Yasir Ali was making his Test bow for Bangladesh in the two-match series.
