Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan Shohan has been named in the squad for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour, which begins on July 7. Shohan's inclusion in all three formats was explained by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu on Wednesday [June 23].

The 27-year-old cricketer was named in the preliminary squad for Sri Lanka but did not make the final team. The ongoing DPL performance aided him in gaining an opportunity and catching the attention of the selectors.

"If you look at the current performance and the team management was quite happy with his skill and practice session in the Sri Lanka series. We are also happy with the selection panel. With the current performance and everything, we felt that he needs to be included in the squad,” said Nannu.

Nannu also said that Shohan’s chance in the XI depends on the condition of Zimbabwe weather. However, the chief selector is optimistic about Shohan’s opportunity in the main team.

“Team management will go there and decide whether he will get to play because the condition is very important there. The team management will take the decision after seeing the condition. We are hopeful and confident that he will be given a chance in any format there,” he added.

Shohan captained Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in this year DPL where he has played 14 matches to score 346 runs at a strike rate of 152.
