Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan has confirmed that the salaries of cricketers will be increased by 10-20 percent in this year's contract while speaking to media on Thursday [June 17].

The central contract has not yet been finalized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), although they have prepared a list of 22-23 cricketers.

“After the board meeting, we have sat down with the selectors to discuss few things, we will send the letter to the cricketers in a day or two. In which format they want to play, we will make a deal as soon as the answer comes. There are 23-24 people but all won’t get the contract,” said Akram.

Akram said BCB is yet to confirm in which format the cricketers are interested to play. That is why the central contract of the cricketers is in halt. However, the final list will be released in a few days.

Many cricket boards are cutting down the salaries of cricketers because of the global crisis due to the coronavirus. However, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon has agreed to increase the salaries of cricketers.

“In this current situation, the cricketers of other boards have decided to reduce cricketers and staff salary. I told the Board President to cut down the salaries but he said to increase it by 10-20 percent,” he added.
