The 9th match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed another defeat of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai Saturday, April 17.

Mumbai Indians have won the toss and have opted to bat first. They made one change as Adam Milne came in place of Marco Jansen. However, SRH made as many as four changes- Virat Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Khaleel Ahmed came in place of Wriddhiman Saha, Jason Holder, Shahbaz Nadeem and T Natarajan.

MI openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock got off to a flying start. While the latter started with a boundary off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rohit took on Khaleel Ahmed for a boundary in the next. Soon the skipper smacked a four and six off Mujeeb Ur Rahman and their onslaught took the team to 53 in the powerplay.

But it didn't stay long as Vijay Shankar handed over the first breakthrough in the form of Rohit, who fell for 32. His dismissal somehow slowed down the pace as Suryakumar Yadav too couldn't contribute much. And, some stunning spells in the middle overs saw Mumbai batsmen struggling to score with free arms as they lost a few wickets as well.

However, some late onslaught from Kieron Pollard took them to 150 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs. He remained unbeaten at 35 off 22 with a boundary and 3 sixes.

While chasing, SRH openers - David Warner and Jonny Bairstow got off to a flying start. While Bairstow took the charge, Warner played the second fiddle. Although SRH could manage only 2 runs in their first 2 overs, 3rd over from Trent Boult saw some big shots from Bairstow as well.

While he started with a boundary past the square leg, the next one went through behind the square. Then he smashed a maximum in the very next ball over mid-off and the next ball saw another boundary through extra-cover as well. Later, he took on Adam Milne and smacked two back-to-back sixes in the 4th over as well and another one off Krunal Pandya too.

Along with Warner, they put up 57 runs in the powerplay and just when he looked more dangerous in the middle, he got out bizarrely. He went deep in the crease for a slog sweep but ended up hitting the stumps with his back foot and got out for 43 off 22 with 3 fours and 4 sixes.

However, another poor show from the middle-order cost SRH their game. Vijay Shankar single-handedly tried his best but didn't get much support from the other end and they eventually got out for 28. SRH lost the game by 13 runs.
