Bangladesh legends depart to play Road Safety World Series in India

Bangladesh legends have departed to play in the 'Road Safety World Series' in India with former cricketers Bangladesh on Saturday. The six-nation tournament, comprising former cricketers, will start on March 5. Bangladesh will face host India in the opening match.

The first edition of the Road Safety World Series with former cricketers started in 2020. However, due to coronavirus, the tournament was postponed midway. This time the competition is starting anew.

Apart from host India and Bangladesh former cricketers from South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka and England are also taking part. Legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara will play in tournament.

Bangladesh Legends got the opportunity to play in place of Australia, who withdrew the event due to Covid-19 restrictions. Mohammad Rafique will lead the Bangladesh veteran’s team, apart from Rafique, former cricketers including Abdur Razzak, Khaled Mashud Pilot, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, Javed Omar Belim, Rajin Saleh, Nafees Iqbal and Aftab Ahmed.

According to the schedule, 12 matches will be held in the group stage till March 16. There will be semi-finals on March 16 and 17 with the top four teams. The final of the tournament will be held on March 21. All matches will be played in Raipur and will start at 7:00 pm Bangladesh time.
