On the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence and the year of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh team will play in a special jersey for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. The design of this jersey will reflect the joy and memory of the freedom fighters.

The color of the jersey has been varied as the national flags colors red and green will be prioritized. Akram Khan, chairman of the BCB's cricket operations committee, revealed about the jersey to the media on Sunday (January 18th).

“Like the whole country, our cricket board and players are going to be involved in this occasion. And it is a special occasion for us as it marks 50 years of our independence. To celebrate that we have made the jersey based on our national flag’s color, green and red.” Akram said.

“There are no other colors here. We have highlighted the red sun in our flag. We have highlighted the way our freedom fighters rejoiced after our liberation war win, the way they celebrated independence and the memorial we have with them. I hope you all like it.” He added.

Earlier, a special jersey was made for Bangladesh in the 2015 World Cup. With the predominance of the mangrove area Sundarbans, Bangladesh jersey was made with mixture of green and red.
