Hasan Mahmud, one of the finest young pacers and sensational find of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) said he is keenly eyeing his chance of playing the maiden Test for Bangladesh Team ahead of the Tigers’ upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh are scheduled to fly for a three-match Test series in the island nations in the last week of the current month, just one month before the outset of the Test series.

This time Bangladesh have planned to go with an extended squad in Sri Lanka, where they want to travel with seven pace bowlers.

The selectors consider Hasan Mahmud in the pace line-up because they want to give an apt reply against Sri Lanka’s prowling pace attack. The right-handed pacer has a good possibility of getting a chance in the three-match Test series.

The name of Hasan Mahmud remains in the preliminary squad for the three tests in Sri Lanka. Even he is in the race of the final squad. Hasan wants to deliver his best for the country in white-ball cricket.

“I have been bowling practice here for so many days. I have regularly been bowling practice at the Shaheed Smrity School field for the last three weeks. It is situated beside my house. I am doing ‘spot bowling’ with the red-ball right now. Along with that, I am doing my fitness work at home. I’m running on a treadmill,” said Hasan Mahmud.

“Inshaallah, if I get a chance to play, I will try to give my best for the team and the country as well,” Mahmud told Crickfrenzy.com

The Young Turk has remained in Laxmipur since March. He spoke over mobile phone and informed that he is living in Laxmipur in the wake of the outburst of the coronavirus pandemic and after the cancelation of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (well known as Dhaka Premier League). Therefore, his time has been passing at home.

“By the grace of Allah, I am quite well,” said the 20-year-old pacer said, who played so far a Twenty20 International match for Bangladesh.

Hasan has regularly been practicing for the last two months despite having a lengthy break. I have also worked on fitness at the suggestion of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The preparation of the Sri Lanka tour for Hasan Mahmud is going on in Laxmipur. He is doing spot-bowling with red-ball. He will return to Dhaka if he gets a call for the camp of the national team.

Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi and Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury are now the regular pacers in Tests for Bangladesh. Hasan Mahmud can move the ball in two sides like Rahi and have speed in bowling like Ebadot.

“I can also move the ball with two sides,” a confident Mahmud said.

Mahmud is planning to return to Dhaka after a week. If Domingo-Gibson is satisfied in the camp, the young lad of Laxmipur might be a part of the Lanka-bound Mominul Haque-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
