West Indies superstar Henry Gayle has arrived in Dhaka to take part in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20 for Chattogram Challengers.
The hard-hitting batsman arrived in the capital Monday morning.
There was lot of controversy regarding gayle participation in this year competition. Gayle was originally picked in the auction by the challengers to play for the full season but he later refused to take any participation in this year competition. Chattogram challengers later managed to get his service for the business end of the competition.
The Chattogram Challengers have already qualified for the playoffs with 14 points from 10 matches, and are currently second in the points table behind Rajshahi Royals. The port city outfit will play Cumilla Warriors and Dhaka Platoon in their final two games of the group stage.
The Chattogram team held a practice session at the Academy Grounds in Mirpur Monday, but Gayle did not take part. However, he is still likely to play all their remaining matches.
Gayle has scored 1,338 runs in 38 innings in the Bangladesh Premier League, so far. He has a batting average of 41.81 and strike rate of 158.71. Known as the Universal Boss in T20 cricket, he has scored a record five centuries and smashed 120 sixes in the BPL.
