Fortune Barishal thrashed Chattogram Challengers by seven wickets in the Eliminator of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

Tamim Iqbal and Kyle Mayers steered with half-centuries to help Barishal move to the second qualifier in the ongoing tournament where they will face the loser of the first qualifier.

Despite losing Soumya Sarkar for nought, Tamim gave a flying start and played an unbeatable 52 off 43 balls aided by nine boundaries and Mayers hit a 26-ball 50 smashing three fours and five sixes in their 98-run stand.

Earlier, Fortune Barishal restricted Chattogram Challengers to 135-9 in 20 overs after being sent to bat.

Kyle Mayers, Obed McCoy and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up two wickets each for Barishal to bundle Chattogram to a meagre total. Chattogram failed to make a good start losing their important batter Tanzid Hasan early in the game.

Tanzid (2) fell when he top-edged Saifuddin and was caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim. Following this, Josh Brown and Tom Bruce attempted to rebuild their innings however, the Barishal bowlers capitalized on every opportunity. Brown's resistance was broken by McCoy after scoring 34 runs, while Tom Bruce's was dismissed by Mayers.
